The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has hosted a high-level engagement with members of the Ad-hoc Evaluation Committee tasked with assessing the operations of the Tripartite Secretariat.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, brought together Electoral Commissioners and senior management staff of ECSL to interface with the committee, which is chaired by Deputy Minister of Political and Public Affairs, Philip Tetemah Tondoneh.
The Ad-hoc Evaluation Committee comprises representatives from government, political parties, and civil society organisations, reflecting a multi-stakeholder approach to the assessment process. Among the civil society groups represented are the Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI), Women’s Forum Sierra Leone, and the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ).
The engagement provided a platform for discussions on the performance and effectiveness of the Tripartite Secretariat, which plays a key role in facilitating dialogue and implementing resolutions agreed upon by stakeholders following recent electoral processes.
Officials noted that the assessment aims to evaluate the Secretariat’s impact, identify operational challenges, and recommend measures to strengthen its functionality and credibility.
The ECSL reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaboration with stakeholders in efforts to enhance electoral governance and public trust in democratic institutions.
The meeting forms part of ongoing national efforts to review and improve mechanisms established to support inclusive political dialogue and electoral reforms.
