Supreme Court Justice Alhadi Appointed Acting Director of Sierra Leone Law School

The Council for Legal Education has announced the appointment of Honourable Justice Fatmatta Bintu Alhadi, a Justice of the Supreme Court of Sierra Leone, as the Acting Director of the Sierra Leone Law School. This leadership transition, which took effect on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, follows the resignation of the institution's former director.
In the same announcement, the Council appointed Emmanuel Sahr Tondoneh Esq. as Assistant, while confirming that recruitment for a substantive Director will begin in the near future. According to the Council, these appointments are designed to ensure operational continuity and the maintenance of academic standards at the nation's premier institution for professional legal training.
Justice Alhadi brings extensive judicial and academic experience to the role:
Judicial Career: She has served as a Supreme Court Justice since May 2025, with prior service as a Justice of the Court of Appeal (2020–2025) and a Judge of the High Court (2015–2020). She also serves as a Judge of the United Nations Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone.
Academic Contribution: She has been a lecturer at the Sierra Leone Law School since 2018, teaching various legal subjects.
Professional Background: Her career includes roles as counsel for Guaranty Bank Limited, Head of Legal Affairs at the Financial Intelligence Unit, and a prosecutor in the Law Officers' Department. She has also practiced as a barrister and served as an investigator for the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
Education: Justice Alhadi holds an LL.M. in International Finance and Banking Law from the University of Liverpool, alongside degrees from the University of Surrey, Middlesex University, and the Bar Council of England and Wales.
As Acting Director, Justice Alhadi is charged with providing strategic leadership and overseeing the effective administration of the school during this transitional period.
