Three Accused Committed to High Court in Kenema over Serious Criminal Charges

The Magistrate Court No. 1 in Kenema, presided over by His Worship Magistrate Hadiru Daboh, has committed three defendants to stand trial at the High Court of Sierra Leone over separate alleged criminal offences, including murder, housebreaking, and malicious damage.


The committal proceedings were concluded on January 21, 2026, following preliminary hearings in which no pleas were taken.


One of the defendants, Ansu Goba, also known as Gaza, an 18-year-old pupil from Talia Torgboma Village in the Kenema Judicial District, was arraigned on one count of murder. He is alleged to have murdered Kemoh Sesay Mannah on October 27, 2025, at Mano-Kortuma Village, Nongowa Chiefdom, in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone.




According to the Prosecuting Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sulaiman Kamara, Esq., no plea was taken and the accused had no legal representation during the proceedings. Ansu Goba was remanded at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC), Kenema, pending his trial at the High Court.


The second defendant, Moseray Kamara, also known as Ice Boy, a 20-year-old unemployed resident of Kingsway Street, Kenema, was accused of breaking and entering the dwelling house of Samuel Lavallie and stealing the sum of Sixty-Eight Thousand New Leones (NLe 68,000). The alleged offence occurred on December 19, 2024, at Benduma-Meima Village, Malegohun Chiefdom, within the Kenema Judicial District. He was also committed to the High Court for trial.


The third defendant, Samai Blango, a 20-year-old miner from Largo Town, Nongowa Chiefdom, was arraigned on two counts: housebreaking, contrary to Section 27(2) of the Larceny Act of 1916, and malicious damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.


According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa, and in association with Defence Counsel Banie E. Sesay, Esq., Samai Blango allegedly, on December 12, 2025, broke and entered the dwelling house of Fatmata Kabba with intent to commit a felony at Largo Town, Kenema District. On the same date, he is further accused of maliciously damaging a steel window valued at Three Thousand Five Hundred New Leones (NLe 3,500), property of the said Fatmata Kabba.


No plea was taken and the accused had no legal representation at the time of committal. He was subsequently remanded at the SLCC in Kenema, pending trial at the High Court.


The cases will now proceed to the High Court of Sierra Leone for full trial.
