Twin Brothers Remanded Over Murder And Assault Charges

Proceedings continued at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 in the case involving twin brothers, Alhassan and Alusine Fofanah, both 46, who are facing charges including conspiracy to murder, murder, wounding with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The charges relate to an alleged violent incident that occurred on July 4, 2026, in Sumaila Town.

The prosecution’s first witness, Detective Police Constable Ibrahim Kamara, testified about the police investigation into the incident.

Kamara told the court that he was assigned to investigate the matter after the case was transferred from New England Police Station.

According to the witness, the investigation followed an alleged assault on Alie Bangura and the death of Mumunie Bah at the scene of the incident.

Kamara said that on July 4, 2026, he visited the alleged crime scene in Sumaila Town, where photographs were taken and statements obtained from the complainant, Alie Bangura, as well as witnesses including Michael Milton John, Abu Turay and Muvlai Bangura.

The detective further testified that subsequent investigations established that Mumunie Bah had died at the scene, after which his body was conveyed to the Connaught Hospital Mortuary.

The court also heard that the accused brothers later reported themselves voluntarily at New England Police Station, accompanied by three knives, which were subsequently produced as exhibits.

Kamara said voluntary caution statements were obtained from both accused persons in Krio. According to the witness, the statements were read and explained to the brothers, who subsequently confirmed them as true and correct by affixing their thumbprints.

The detective further told the court that the statements contained accounts of the accused persons’ alleged involvement in the incident.

The investigation also included a post-mortem examination on the body of Mumunie Bah. The witness said the examination established the cause of death.

Kamara also testified that forensic analysis was conducted on the three knives produced by the accused persons.

During cross-examination, the detective acknowledged that one of the accused sustained an injury during the altercation. He, however, told the court that no cutlass was seen at the scene.

Kamara also denied the suggestion that police officers advised the accused persons to admit to the allegations.

Following the proceedings, Magistrate John Manso Fornah ordered that the two accused persons remain in custody and adjourned the matter to September 9, 2026, for further proceedings.

The court is expected to hear additional prosecution witnesses, including Muvlai Bangura, who, according to the proceedings, is yet to be subpoenaed.

The accused brothers remain on remand as the prosecution continues to present its case.
