Waterloo Police Intercept Suspect with Unlicensed Firearm

A routine security operation at the Waterloo Checkpoint on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, resulted in the arrest of Tejan Jabbie, a resident of New London, Kossoh Town, Freetown.
Officers from the Waterloo Police Division discovered an unlicensed pistol loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition in Jabbie’s possession while he was travelling in a vehicle with registration number ARQ 600.
The arrest, conducted under the leadership of Local Unit Commander Superintendent Bankolay Mansaray, highlights ongoing efforts by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) to curb illegal firearm movement.
The suspect has been transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further questioning.
Superintendent Mansaray reiterated the division’s commitment to rigorous checkpoint operations, emphasizing their critical role in preventing crime and ensuring public safety.
