Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Firearm and Weapons in Bo East

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have arrested a suspected armed robbery suspect and recovered a locally made firearm, ammunition, and other weapons during a routine stop-and-search operation at the Ngalehun Police Checkpoint in the Bo East Division.

The arrest was made on Sunday, 12 July 2026, when police officers stationed at the checkpoint intercepted a vehicle and conducted a search as part of ongoing security operations in the area.

During the search, officers discovered a locally made short gun, three cartridges, and two knives concealed beneath the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Mbayoh, was arrested and escorted to the Bo East Divisional Headquarters, where he remains in police custody assisting with investigations.

The police said the operation highlights the role of routine checkpoints in preventing crime, detecting illegal weapons, and supporting public safety efforts.

The recovered items have been taken into police custody as exhibits, while investigations into the matter continue.
