Woman Remanded for Sentencing Following Guilty Plea in Assault Case

Damoh Williams, who previously pleaded not guilty to assault charges, has changed her plea to guilty before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.

The charges stem from an incident on January 28, 2026, at No. 36B Ascension Town, Freetown, where Williams was accused of assaulting Safiatu Bangura, causing her actual bodily harm under Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

During the court proceedings, Williams formally requested to change her plea. Following the guilty plea, Magistrate Fornah ordered that Williams be remanded at the Female Correctional Centre.

The court has scheduled the sentencing for July 28, 2026, pending a review of her records. This case highlights the judicial system’s focus on addressing and ensuring accountability for assault-related offences.
