Journalist and political analyst Edward Liam Caulker has stepped down from his role as Station Manager of Amaze Television Channel 32. Caulker cited the need to protect his journalistic independence and professional integrity as the primary reasons for his departure, following a controversial appearance on AYV’s Front Page program.

In a formal statement, Caulker explained that his resignation followed a period of deep reflection regarding the core principles that have defined his media career.

“I have formally resigned from my position as Station Manager at Amaze Television Channel 32,” he announced, emphasizing that the move was essential to maintain his commitment to objectivity and fairness.

Caulker noted that while the decision was difficult, it was a necessary step to remain free from political influence and to uphold the accountability expected of a journalist.

Reaffirming his dedication to public-interest journalism, he stated that media professionals must serve the community without fear or compromise.

“I believe this decision is necessary to remain true to those values,” he added.

The resignation occurs in the wake of a televised debate on AYV where Caulker engaged with Moses Mambu, the National Publicity Secretary of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). The exchange sparked a heated public discussion, with viewers divided over the conduct and tone of the participants.

Following the broadcast, Amaze TV issued a public disclaimer, asserting that Caulker’s comments were made in a personal capacity and did not reflect the station’s editorial stance.

The station further offered an apology to Mr. Mambu and reaffirmed its own commitment to impartial reporting and ethical standards in public discourse.

While Caulker did not explicitly link his exit to the station's statement or the AYV program, the timing of his departure has fueled public speculation.

Known to many as “Dictionary Liam Caulker,” the mediaman concluded by reiterating his identity as a thought-provoking professional whose primary loyalty lies with his journalistic principles.
