APC Clarifies Demands For End To Boycott, Before Guarantor Visit

The All People’s Congress (APC) has formally expressed significant concerns regarding the current status of electoral reforms in Sierra Leone. This communication precedes the scheduled visit of the International Moral Guarantors, who are tasked with facilitating stakeholder engagement on the implementation of the Agreement for National Unity (ANU) and the subsequent Tripartite Committee recommendations.

In an official statement released on Sunday, April 13, 2026, the APC clarified that this visit is the culmination of ongoing dialogue with both national and international partners. The party cited the protracted timeline and limited progress in fulfilling key electoral reform commitments as primary drivers for this diplomatic intervention.

The APC emphasized its continued adherence to the principles of the ANU and its proactive cooperation throughout the Tripartite Committee process. However, the party underscored that critical provisions essential for ensuring electoral transparency and institutional accountability remain unresolved, necessitating immediate attention.

Furthermore, the APC noted that the recent appointment of Edmond Sylvester Alpha as Chief Electoral Commissioner has generated significant discourse regarding public trust in electoral institutions. The party maintains that such appointments must bolster, rather than diminish, confidence in the nation's democratic framework.

In light of these challenges, the APC has announced the strategic withdrawal of its Members of Parliament and Local Council representatives from specific governance structures. This measure will remain in effect until substantive progress is achieved regarding the agreed-upon reform initiatives.

The party reaffirms its steadfast commitment to peace, national stability, and the advancement of democratic governance. The APC maintains that these objectives are only attainable through transparent processes and the good-faith execution of all political agreements.

While welcoming the International Moral Guarantors, the APC encourages the delegation to foster a constructive environment for dialogue. The party seeks to ensure that all commitments established under the ANU are fully realized to secure Sierra Leone's democratic future.

Finally, the leadership of the APC calls upon its constituents and supporters to maintain discipline and unity. The party remains dedicated to pursuing electoral integrity and equitable governance through professional and peaceful engagement.
