Former APC Western Region Spokesperson Abubakarr Daramy has said the All People’s Congress (APC) has a strong pool of leadership aspirants ahead of the 2028 elections, insisting that many of them are capable of defeating the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
Speaking on Slik TV, Daramy said the APC’s flagbearer selection process is open and competitive, allowing all qualified aspirants to contest without restrictions.
“All the aspirants contesting for the APC leadership are qualified,” he said.
He explained that the party’s internal system is designed to identify the strongest candidate through competition rather than exclusion.
“One thing we are doing in the All People’s Congress is like drafting we are finding the best player,” he said. “The APC does not set barriers; everyone is allowed to come in and compete so that we can choose the best.”
Daramy added that the final decision on the party’s flagbearer will be made by delegates at a national delegates’ congress, urging aspirants to engage directly with party delegates and present their records and vision.
He further claimed that a significant number of APC aspirants have the capacity to defeat the SLPP in the 2028 elections.
“Eighty percent of our candidates will beat the SLPP at first hands in 2028,” he said.
According to him, many aspirants have strong records and experience that would appeal to voters across the country.
He also noted that several contenders would pose a serious challenge to whoever emerges as the SLPP flagbearer.
Among those he mentioned as part of the APC’s pool of aspirants are Dr Kaifala Marrah, Ady Macauley Esq., Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, Dr Ibrahim Bangura, and Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, among others.
Daramy said the depth of talent within the APC reflects the party’s strength as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
His comments come amid increasing internal political activity within the APC as the party advances its flagbearer selection process ahead of the next general elections.
