Alimammy P. Koroma, a prominent figure within the All People’s Congress (APC), has formally disclosed that representatives of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) approached him during the 2018 electoral cycle with an offer to serve as the running mate for then-candidate Julius Maada Bio.
In an interview with Epic Radio, Mr. Koroma confirmed his rejection of the proposal, citing his steadfast allegiance to the APC and his enduring institutional commitment to the party.
Having officially joined the APC post-2005, Mr. Koroma emphasized that he has maintained an unwavering record of service and fidelity to the organization throughout his tenure.
Furthermore, Mr. Koroma provided insights into his professional and personal rapport with former President Ernest Bai Koroma, whom he characterized as both a fraternal figure and a close confidant.
"President Koroma remains a distinguished colleague and a personal friend. My decision to resign from an international post was predicated on a desire to return to Sierra Leone and contribute to the realization of his national vision," he stated.
These declarations have elicited significant political discourse, particularly regarding the strategic considerations and cross-party engagements preceding the 2018 general elections.
Ultimately, Mr. Koroma’s testimony underscores his continued dedication to the APC while providing historical context to the political deliberations that defined the 2018 pre-election landscape.
