Police officers stationed at the Fallah Checkpoint in Bo have arrested Lansana Sheriff, a resident of No. 30 Tucker Street, Kenema, on Sunday, October 26, 2025, for allegedly possessing substances believed to be Cannabis Sativa.
According to police reports, Sheriff was stopped at approximately 12:40 p.m. while traveling on an Opel commercial vehicle from Hastings to Kenema. During a routine security check, officers discovered two five-gallon jerry cans containing dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.
The suspect and the seized substances are currently in police custody. The Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) at the Bo Regional Headquarters has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the transport of the suspected drugs.
Authorities said the arrest forms part of ongoing efforts to curb the possession and transportation of prohibited substances across the region. Security personnel at major checkpoints continue to intensify surveillance to intercept illegal drug trafficking and safeguard public safety.
The matter remains under investigation as police work to compile evidence before proceeding with legal action.
