Eastern Region Kicks Off U-17 Talent Hunt in Kenema

The future stars of Sierra Leonean football are taking their first steps towards national glory as the Eastern Region Football Association, in conjunction with the Sierra Leone Football Association, officially commenced the Regional U-17 Talent Identification Preliminary trials in Kenema.

Seeking to sculpt a formidable U-17 national team, this talent identification initiative has been met with enthusiasm.

Newly appointed national U-17 Team Administrator, Abu Bakarr S. Kallon, widely known as "Cantona," lauded the SLFA for their timely intervention in nurturing youth football development across the nation.

These crucial talent identification sessions are not limited to Kenema, extending their reach to hopeful young players from Kailahun and Kono.

The trials are slated to run for three consecutive days, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, giving aspiring athletes ample opportunity to showcase their abilities.

The scouting sessions are being held at the iconic Kenema City Field. According to Regional Technical Instructor Aiah Lebbie, a stringent selection process will see only 15 players chosen after the rigorous three-day trial, with participants drawn from various U-17 clubs throughout the region.

The Acting Vice Chairman of the Eastern Region Football Association expressed immense satisfaction with the burgeoning progress of youth football in recent years.

He commended the unwavering commitment and sheer determination displayed by the young players, highlighting their infectious energy, exemplary discipline, and profound passion as undeniable indicators of a bright future for Sierra Leonean football.
