Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, widely known as Jagaban, has unveiled 27 newly procured buses as part of his pledge to introduce two months of free nationwide transportation.
Providing an update on the initiative, Jagaban said his commitment to transforming public mobility extends beyond politics, noting that schoolchildren will soon benefit from free bus services. He described the plan as a “game-changer” for families and young learners.

He emphasized that a modern, multi-modal transportation system is vital for national development, adding that Sierra Leoneans need a network that allows seamless movement between cities. According to him, his team is working toward a system focused on comfort, efficiency, and stronger connectivity.
Jagaban disclosed that the fleet includes 12 sixty-seater buses and 15 eighty-seaters, all equipped with modern features, including disability access. He said the new buses will form the backbone of an affordable and accessible nationwide transport network.

He added that this initiative is the first of its kind in the country and represents a major step toward building a reliable transportation system for both urban and regional commuters. More updates, he said, will be provided as preparations continue.

The announcement comes after public interest surged following his earlier pledge to provide free transportation for all citizens during the first two months of operations once the buses are fully deployed.
