JFK Confirms Former President Koroma Has Been Discharged of All Criminal Charges

Former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has been fully discharged of all criminal charges previously brought against him, according to a statement released today by his lead counsel.

The legal representative Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara confirmed that the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice had filed a Notice of Discontinuance under Section 45 of the Criminal Procedure Act, 2024, effectively ending the proceedings against the former head of state. Counsel stated that they welcomed the Attorney-General’s exercise of lawful authority, describing the decision as one that served the interests of national peace, reconciliation, and social cohesion.

He noted that Dr. Koroma had consistently respected the judicial process, fully cooperated with authorities, and complied with all bail conditions throughout the legal ordeal. With the charges now discontinued, counsel confirmed that the former President’s bail has been discharged, granting him the freedom to return to Sierra Leone whenever he chooses.

He established that the legal matter now concluded, Dr. Koroma looked forward to returning home to continue his contributions to national peace, dialogue, and development, while spending time with his family.
