Police Commissions New, Modern Aberdeen Divisional Headquarters

The Sierra Leone Police officially opened the Aberdeen Police Headquarters on Friday, 14 November 2025, under the leadership of Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu.


The new facility underscores the government’s commitment to a professional, community-focused police force.


The commissioning ceremony drew high-level government officials, including Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, who also chairs the Police Council, and Minister of Internal Affairs, Retired Assistant Inspector General Morie Lengor. The event highlighted ongoing investment in strengthening the Sierra Leone Police, improving institutional capacity, and supporting officers’ welfare.

The Aberdeen Divisional Headquarters features modern facilities designed to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. These include disability-friendly access, spacious offices, comprehensive insurance coverage, and a work environment tailored to the needs of the Force.



Key police officials also participated in the ceremony. Regional Police Commander for Freetown West, AIG Sylvester M. N. Koroma, delivered a welcome address, while Local Unit Commander, CSP Zainab Mbalu Gbla, gave the vote of thanks. Attendees were given a guided tour of the facility, and the event concluded with a display of traditional dance.

Vice President Juldeh Jalloh praised IGP Sellu’s leadership as pragmatic, transformative, and aligned with the government’s vision of a capable, people-focused police force. He noted that the administration’s reforms include merit-based promotions emphasizing honesty, bravery, commitment, respect for leadership, and social intelligence.

Minister Lengor commended IGP Sellu’s developmental approach, stating that the Aberdeen Divisional Headquarters is expected to serve as a reference point for future modernization initiatives across the country.
