President Bio Invites Guinea’s Doumbouya to West Africa Integration and Investment Summit
Following a bilateral meeting in New York, Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has formally invited Guinea’s President Mamady Doumbouya to participate in the upcoming West Africa Integration and Investment Summit (WAIIS).
Disclosing the engagement in a statement following their discussion on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, President Bio highlighted the shared commitment between the two nations to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties.
“I met with President Mamady Doumbouya, the President of the Republic of Guinea, in New York. We committed to strengthening our country's ties for the ongoing benefit of our peoples,” Bio stated.
As part of these efforts, President Bio extended an invitation to President Doumbouya to attend WAIIS, which will take place at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Lungi, Sierra Leone. Centred on regional integration and investment, the summit presents a key opportunity for further high-level engagement between the neighbouring West African states.
The venue in Lungi has established itself as a premier location for major diplomatic gatherings, having previously hosted high-profile events including the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
The engagement formed part of a broader series of bilateral discussions conducted by President Bio and other international leaders during the UN General Assembly, reinforcing Sierra Leone and Guinea’s shared dedication to advancing regional cooperation.
