Tuma Adama Jabbie Rejects Political Support in SLBA Race

Tuma Adama Jabbie Esq., a presidential candidate in the upcoming Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) elections, has said she does not believe politicians should be involved in supporting her candidacy, insisting that the leadership of the Bar Association must remain strictly a professional matter for lawyers.

Speaking in an interview on AYV Television, Jabbie emphasized that although she maintains a cordial relationship with First Lady Fatima Bio, she does not expect political figures to campaign or lobby on her behalf.

According to Jabbie, the First Lady only congratulated her after she secured victory during her previous term and played no active role in her campaign.

“I don’t believe that politicians should support me,” Jabbie stated, stressing that her focus remains on earning the confidence and support of members of the legal profession rather than political actors.

She maintained that the Sierra Leone Bar Association is a professional institution and that its elections should be determined by lawyers based on competence, leadership, and commitment to the advancement of the legal profession.

Jabbie further noted that her campaign is centered on engaging lawyers across the country, emphasizing that they are the key stakeholders whose votes will shape the future leadership of the Association.

Her remarks come amid growing discussions surrounding her bid for another term as President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, with some observers highlighting her family relationship with First Lady Fatima Bio.

However, Jabbie made it clear that she views the election as a professional contest and believes political affiliations should have no influence on its outcome.
