Tarawally Spokesperson Claims Rivals Fear His Support Ahead of SLPP Convention

Official spokesperson for Alhaji Musa Tarawally, Boima J.V. Boima, has claimed that political rivals are making allegations against Tarawally because they fear his level of support ahead of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) national convention.

Speaking on Liberty Online TV, Boima said Tarawally has significant support within the party and could defeat his rivals if a genuine national convention is held. He claimed that Tarawally would secure at least 618 delegate votes, describing the figure as a reflection of his support base.

Boima also claimed that constituency chairmen and women leaders across the country have endorsed Tarawally, arguing that his perceived strength is behind what he described as false allegations against him.

He rejected claims that Tarawally is not an SLPP member, questioning how someone who was allegedly not a member could have served as a permanent delegate at the party’s national delegates convention and been addressed as a patron.

According to Boima, the allegations should be viewed within the wider political competition over the SLPP’s leadership and future flagbearership.

Tarawally’s membership status remains disputed, with the SLPP questioning his position in the party while Tarawally maintains that he is a fully paid-up member.

Boima maintained that Tarawally remains politically strong within the SLPP and said attempts to portray him otherwise are being driven by opponents who fear his potential performance at the national convention.
