- Prezo Koroma reports to CID, Foryoh and Medlenero of Black Leo for threatening his life
Ibrahim Koroma, known as Prezo Koroma, has filed an official complaint at the Criminal Investigations Department, a special division of the Police Force, against Emmanuel Foryoh Rogers (musician Artical Foryoh) and Medlenero, member of the Black Leo crew, for allegedly threatening his life and attempting to carry the threat out. According to Prezo, on Wednesday the 30th May 2023 at the Ministry of Tourism's vicinity, one Medlenero known to be a member of Black Leo, a rap label and crew, had confronted him with a knife for allegedly disrespecting their crew members. According to Prezo Koroma's narrations, this was done in full view of media practitioners. On the advice of his lawyers and relatives, he had gone to make a report of the incident. He says at the further behest of his lawyer, he had been directed to make complaint of other threats publicly made on him by Artical Foryoh who promised to "handle" him whenever they come across each other. The two former friends had had a falling out after Prezo Koroma had tongue lashed Foryoh for aligning with Kao Denero, a known nemesis of rapper Laj, after he Foryoh had acted as a close friend of Laj too, as stated in the above video. This allegation of switching sides and snitching had led to the unfavorable branding of Foryoh, a thorn in his side, even now. Prezo Koroma has however declared that if further attempts are made on his person, he will be forced to defend himself by any means necessary. Neither Black Leo nor Musician Foryoh have addressed the allegations and subsequent reporting made to the police.
- Amb. Bash to roll out season two of his hit show, Afro Zone
Radio and television Presenter Mohamed Basiru Sanusi known as Ambassador Bash is to restart his youth and entertainment show called Afro zone. Afro Zone is the radio and television show which hosts individuals from several sectors to exhibit professional opinions of their fields in a lighthearted manner, to communicate simple solutions affecting their sectors. The first season of the show which ended in September of last year had focused on change making personalities, mostly youths, who probed social issues and proffer solutions based on their profession and personal experiences. Speaking to this medium, Amb. Bash stated that the nine month interval had been used to focus on other career activities, which are now stabilized enough to create time for revamping of AfroZone, a seemingly public favourite. The program will be aired on Afriradio, commencing on Wednesday 7th June for two weeks before electioneering activities, with a two weeks lull for elections and continuing every Wednesday after that.
- ACC hands over Chairman of Motherland City project to Sierra Leone Police
The Anti-Corruption Commission has announced the completion of investigations into the Chairman of the Motherland City Project Edward Alex Olubode Phillips on criminal allegations of fraud. This information was made public on 30th May 2023 and outlines their investigative process. The release states that based on a joint investigation with the Financial Intelligence Unit, they were able to unearth that the company Ebenezer the Almighty Prosper, known as EAp Group of companies was incorporated by the Chairman with two other shareholders, with Mr. Alex retaining major shares. The Group was spearheading a project for a modernized self-sufficient city for luxurious living, to be situated at York, which is turning out to be a sham. The commission furthered that several accounts were discovered tied to the company with unfavorable financial standing, after obtaining monies from several potential homeowners, with potential money laundering activities. They furthered that company asset was discovered to be a seventy acres of land situated at York Village and a capital discovered in six bank accounts amounting to almost fourteen thousand Leones. ACC informs that based on these particulars and more outlined therein, they have handed over Mr. Phillips to the Sierra Leone police who may hand over Mr. Phillips to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an existing sentence in Nigeria.
- Court Chairman in Kailahun jailed for sexual Penetration of a 14-year-old
Fifty Years old Kailahun Court Chairman Jusu Lahai has been convicted and sentenced to fourteen years in prison for sexually penetrating a fourteen year old girl. State Counsel Daniel Mansaray of the High Court in Kailahun prosecuted the matter. The verdict was delivered by Justice Francis Banks-Kamara of the High Court in Kailahun for Sexual penetration with a child below Eighteen years in accordance with Sec.4(a)(iii) of the Sexual offenses (Amendment) Act No.8 of 2019. The particulars of the offense stated that Jusu Lahai on November 19, 2022 at Joporwahun Village, Pejeh Bongrey Chiefdom, Kailahun, did engage in an act of Sexual penetration with a child below 18 years. According to the accused, he had returned home and while resting at home, the child entered the room and requested money from him which had prompted his actions to engage in a sexual act with her. He pleaded guilty and begged for mercy. Defence Counsel, Samuel Pessima Esq. of Legal Aid Board in Kailahun District, asked for mercy and a lenient sentence given that he is a first-time offender and didn't waste the time of the Court. Justice Banks-Kamara tempered justice with mercy based on the stature of the child but pushed that as a Local Court Chairman at Joporwahun Village, Pejeh Bongrey Chiefdom Chiefdom, Kailahun District the accused has betrayed the trust of the State.
- APC has launched a ten pillared manifesto going into the 2023 Presidential election
The All People's Congress (APC) party has officially launched a ten pillared manifesto for the upcoming June 24th 2023 general elections, titled "One Nation Manifesto" and seeking towards boosting economic developments and cementing cohesiveness. The launch which was held at the Lagoonda conference hall in Freetown was attended by party members, supporters, and other stakeholders. Introducing the party's flagbearer and chairman, Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, the running mate, Hon. Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, echoed that Dr. Kamara is the right candidate to lead the country into a new era of progress and prosperity, a sentiment expressed by all speakers before him. In his statement and official launch of their manifesto, Dr. Kamara spelled out the importance of unity in moving Sierra Leone forward, improving on the principles of inclusivity, fairness, and justice. He added that the party's focus would be on improving the country's infrastructure, and pertinent components of development for all Sierra Leoneans. The "One Nation Manifesto" comprises of ten pillars expanding on policy proposals to create jobs and boost economic growth, protect the environment and respond to climate change, accelerate investment in physical and digital infrastructure, deepen and strengthen Decentralization and Rural Development. The manifesto also promises to Enhance Democratic Good Governance and the Rule of Law and to ensure the establishment of pathways for every adult especially the youth and women to earn a living wage. Dr. Kamara said the APC would also prioritize partnership with the Diaspora for National Development through the fostering of unity and cohesion, building One Nation. The launch of the APC's manifesto comes ahead of the country's general elections, which are scheduled to take place on June 24th 2023. The party is hoping that their "One Nation Manifesto" will resonate with voters and help them secure a victory at the polls.
- New Youth Envoy Yulisa Ahmadu plans to commence work this week
Entrepreneur Yulisa Ahmadu who was appointed as Youth Envoy on 25th May 2023 by His Excellency President Bio, has disclosed to this medium that he will be flying in to Sierra Leone this week to commence working on his terms of appointment. Speaking, the Media man explained that his vision for improving youths' lives using employment and skills development had existed for a while now, and that with this appointment, the possibilities open to him are endless. Mr. Ahmadu remarked that connecting Sierra Leonean Youths to opportunities like grants, scholarships, and entrepreneurial opportunities worldwide will be key in this office. Globally he will be advocating for young Sierra Leoneans at the UN Youth Assembly, The AU youth parliament and nationally across various departments and agencies operating in Sierra Leone under the supervision of the Youth Ministry. Mr. Ahmadu who had recently been involved in programs providing capital for start ups and providing legal aid for incarcerated youths, says he will be improving on these activities with the backing of government ministries and departments.
- Mohamed Gento Kamara gets a theme/campaign song
Mohamed Gento Kamara, aspirant for the Freetown Mayoral office seems to have found a way to make lemonade out of lemons and by that we mean, he has found a way to alter his blunder, transforming it to a win. Mohamed Kamara had made a seeming huge gaffe on live television during an interview with Africa Young Voices' Samuel Wise Bangura, in response to his plans for his first one hundred days in office. Mr. Kamara has fumbled to communicate his intentions and went on to incorrectly quote lyrics of a particular song" Africa Typic Collection", done by Sam Fan Thomas in referencing the good old days of street electrification, cleanliness and planned layouts. This blunder had illicited rancor and teasing chants from opposition and supporters alike. In recent days however, Mr. Kamara is seen traversing campaign grounds and using the song as a campaign song. He was also seen with his wife, boogieing to it at home. This move is the first attempt at a planned form of communication from his team, who have been lagging at best or outrightly failing to engage residents of Freetowns and the outcome is not looking so bad.
- First Lady Fatima Bio celebrates Dr. Blyden for obtaining medical license
First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone Madam Fatima Maada Bio has taken to social media to commend and celebrate Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, her elder sister for all intents and purposes, on obtaining her license thirty years after completing her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1993 and becoming a Doctor of Medicine in 1996. Madam Bio in her published statement requested public consolidation of good tidings for Dr. Blyden who she affirms has done a lot for her country. Dr. Blyden had announced on Wednesday that she was returning to the field of medicine to obtain certification as a medical practitioner, starting with acquiring her license at the behest of family, including Madam Bio herself. She had furthered that she will be doing her first phase in-house at Connaught, where she has already being shown around by colleagues and seniors. She announced that after a break, she will be returning for her rotational duties to other hospitals. Dr. Blyden confirmed to this medium that this is the start of her rotational duties of three months each, in the four disciplines of medicines, which are Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Surgery. According to Madam Blyden, she has chosen to start with Internal medicine despite having hands on experience in obstetrics, specifically assisting in over fifty births.
- Sierra Leone beats Guinea Bissau 2-1 to set up a Championship Clash against Senegal
Sierra Leone has emerged as winners on Friday Night at the Southern arena after defeating Guinea Bissau 2-1 to register a winning start to the West Africa Football Union's under-20 women's Competition. This is after a 1-1 draw in their inaugural match against Guinea. During the early moments of the match, shooting starlets played well against Guinea Bissau as both Sallay Turay and Juliet Brima scored the two goals in the second half of action to clinch Championship position. The team's performance was outstanding, considering the sloppy start against Guinea. Meanwhile, Guinea Bissau's Jessica Decosta got the last straw that paved the way for a one up to create a 2-1 score to hosts Sierra Leone in matchday two. Speaking to Newsmen after the match, Shooting Starlets gaffer Hassan Malik Mansaray lauded the team's performance against Guinea Bissau and urged the supporters to rally around the team to upset the Baby Taranga Lionesses of Senegal who secured a comfortable 3-1 win against Guinea to set up a tie against Sierra Leone. Due to her brilliant display , Sierra Leone's Juliet Brima was awarded as the Woman of the Match with a trophy, as is the norm for WAFU in every stream of their Competitions. Sierra Leone and Senegal will battle it out on Monday for the Championship trophy, as the two sides have visibly demonstrated the wherewithal to succeed in the tourney. Meanwhile, Senegal is leading the way with six points after two matches played , Whilst , Hosts Sierra Leone has secured four points after two matches played at the Southern. From the euphoria in the camp and motivation from SLFA, the team now has to show and prove to the entire nation that they can do better than their counterparts Senegal come Monday 29th May , 2023.
- Sierra Leone Cycling team Prepares for Commonwealth Youth Games
The seventh Commonwealth Youth Games is about to commence on the Islands of Trinidad and Tobago between 4-11 August 2023. 1000+ athletes and para athletes will converge to showcase their sporting disciplines and Sierra Leone will be represented by the UBUNTU cycling team. The team was put together by Fatima Deborah Conteh, a decorated Cyclist to empower other ladies who have a passion for this particular sport. According to her, the establishment of team "Ubuntu" Cycling Club which Means "Humanity" was to achieve gender parity and help the Country to compete in various International games, previously going unattempted and unrepresented. One of the mentees of Fatima , oluwatosin Blessing Adeola Atunwa, believes that the team will change Sierra Leone's Narrative of women in sports internationally.

- Mohamed Gento Kamara says no to planned Mayoral aspirants debate
Aspiring Mayor for the Municipality of Freetown Mohamed Gento Kamara has issued a press release to say he will not be participating in the planned Mayoral debate organized by Sierraeye and Institute for Legal Research and Advocacy for Justice(ILRAJ) Sierra Leone. According to the release issued on 25th May 2023, Mr. Kamara refuses to participate in a pre-cooked sham. The release hinted at having no prior confirmation with the organizers relating to his schedule and important details that may reassure his team of an impartial, well intentioned debate. One of the organizers, SierraEye has however released a statement debunking the insinuations and releasing details of correspondences between them and a representative of Mr. Kamara's party. The organizers furthered that the option of participating in the Mayoral debate is still open to Mr. Kamara.
