- Feminist and Rights Champion Naffie Mustapha narrates how society’s lies almost crushed her future
25-year-old Eunice Nafisatu Mustapha, a Feminist and Rights Activist has taken to social media to share how lies from stakeholders uttered directly to her almost ruined an opportunity of cementing her future. The young woman who has shared in the past her wins and aspirations before and whilst undertaking them, decided to share a moment of struggle. Miss Mustapha who graduated amongst the top of her class of Law students and was immediately offered an Internship at Marah and Associates in 2022, a top law firm, had been accepted to pursue her Masters at Georgetown University. However she was financially incapable of doing so. Miss Mustapha who is an Author of a book on challenges teenage girls face “Girlz Planete: Teenage Pregnancy”, a former Fourah Bay College student body Presidential candidate, magazine publisher, Founder of a rights group “Strong girls evolution” , two times recipient of the “50 most influential women” award, and a former Head Girl of the Annie Walsh Memorial School had struck out. She narrated how no one helped. She furthered that promises were heaped on themselves but no one fulfilled, despite all her connections. Miss Mustapha revealed that she had to resort to a loan which only provided 5% to start her off on her Master’s journey. She mentioned that an added 10% of the fund was rallied by about eleven people to pursue her goal. She concluded with a message to young people to take charge of their story as she did hers to overcome society’s hurdles. She later shared that she has graduated and now holds a Masters of Laws in National and Global health from Georgetown University Law Centre.

Thousands of Sierra Leoneans will gather on Sunday in Bo, for the opening of a 6000 seater stadium aimed at making the country's football's improvement a reality. The Southern arena is in the Second Capital City of Sierra Leone, Bo. President Julius Maada Bio will grace the inauguration of the Southern arena as a special guest, in recognition of his contribution towards the promotion of sport and the vision of seeing the National Team Leone Stars in a back to back Afcon appearance. The owner of the Southern arena, Babadi Kamara had remarked that "it is a source of pride to have a stadium as beautiful as the Southern arena, needed to restore the country's good football image. In another development, Bai Bureh Warriors and Kamboi Eagles will Commence the Southern arena Interregional tourney , at the Bo Mini Stadium today Friday 19th May 2023, whilst East End Lions face Wusum stars in the second Fixture and the eventual winner from the above fixtures would face host Bo Rangers on Sunday 21st May 2023 , to Mark the official opening ceremony of the southern arena. In the area of Security, the head of safety and security at the FA, Mohamed Freeman conducted an induction training for stewards, in a bid to ensure security amidst the inauguration. Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone football association has lauded the timely intervention of the Chairman of Bo Rangers for restructuring and improving its standard to spice the development of the game in more ways than one.

Football having become a viable tool for many social development programmes, especially rallying youths and fostering unity, Sport for sustainable development, an organization which seeks to promote and support the activities of young people through the awareness of the sustainable development goals set-out by the United nations for 2030, has commenced a three day festival for youngsters at the parade ground. The grand finale game was held at the parade grounds between Future Stars and Accrington football Clubs to the delight of spectators, ending goalless and making necessary spot kicks. The goalkeeper of future Stars helped the team all throughout the shoot-out , ensuring they emerged as Champions after the spot kicks ended 4-1 to earn them the Champions Trophy. According to the Co-founder of Sport for sustainable development Ibrahim Sesay , he was impressed with the style of football visibly demonstrated by Future stars and Accrington and added that the country is awash with raw talents who are ready to go places. Sport for sustainable development remains hopeful that with the constructive engagement of young people in football, especially in the fostering of competition and unity despite competition, the mentality of youths would be positively enhanced before, during and after the June 24th general elections.
- Football: Kamboi Eagles club part ways with Coach Alimu Koroma
Kamboi Eagles football Club has in a press release dated 17th May , 2023 , informed the public of the sacking of their former Coach Alimu Koroma otherwise known as System. Alimu Koroma had replaced Francis Zappa' Koroma in October of 2022 , to improve the team and create winning opportunities for them. The release by the team went on to state that the club is grateful to Coach Alimu Koroma for his efforts during his time with the Club. According to the report, the arrival of Alimu Koroma at Kamboi Eagles had spelled doom for the team and the 2-1 defeat at home against Old Edwardians created massive problems for the Coaching System, after his predecessor Francis Koroma defeated him in front of the Kamboi Eagles spectators. Meanwhile, Assistant Coach Sheriff will serve as an acting Coach until a new Coach can be decided upon.

- Sierra Leonean musicians fight over ownership of name
As if things couldn't get any weirder in Sierra Leone, musicians have today engaged in a war of words for the most bizarre of things, a name. France based musician Amos Bangura using the Artist name of Mos-B, fashioned after his first name and initial of his last name took to social Media to call out colleague Star Zee and husband for working with another artist with a name similar to his, Mus-B. According to the crooner, this act is sort of a betrayal. He posted that he was first informed when Mus-B started using that name and his team had contacted the man. He says he had not decided on commencing legal proceedings but if he intends to, the adoption of this name will be serious grounds. Colleagues took his outburst as a poor display of showmanship and one such who called him out was musician Morris, known as Wonderboy. Star Zee and husband also responded publicly to Mos-B. Mus-B himself, real name Musa Jalloh also responded to Mos-B, calling him a clout chaser. The song "Bounce" featuring Mus-B and other big names, was released a day ago and already has about three thousand five hundred views on YouTube, with many praising his delivery on the song.

Freetown Lakers won game 4 of the Western Area Basketball Association Match after defeating title contender Archibald red Flames 64-61at the Freetown Amusement Basketball Court. Game 4 was hotly contested by the two teams , as players of both sides showcased their prowess in shooting from long distance to make basket , as the enthusiasm to make points was visibly demonstrated by the two teams in every stage of game 4. The tourney organized by the Western Area Basketball Association (WABBA) was aimed at promoting the game and as well as developing the next generation of basketball stars. During the Match , Emmanuel Kamara of Freetown Lakers exhibited his wonderful shooting skills that lure the spectators to keep chanting the most Valuable player all throughout the match. Emmanuel who played with Joy as a forward for Lakers was described by his teammates as a kid who is having fun playing the best game in the World , coupled with his shooting ability to emerge as one of the best shooters in the history of WABBA. Ghana is in high gears to host the first African Paralympic games by September this year. The 2023 African Paralympic games are scheduled to take place in Accra between the 3rd to the 12th of September, 2023. The Maiden edition would feature eight Para Sporting disciplines , like Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting, Para Taekwondo, Wheelchair Tennis , Wheelchair Basketball, Goalball, Sitting Volleyball and Blind Football, but the Wheelchair basketball Competition will be the 2023 African Championships. In response to the games, the National Paralympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NPC-SLE) is in preparation for the said games , with athlete engagement among other things. In form Para Powerlifter, Arold Sheka Kamara has told this medium of his steadfast enthusiasm to make Sierra Leone proud by bagging accolades that befit the preparedness of team Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone's Decorated Paralympian George Wyndham is super ready to raise the bar in Tennis wheelchair come September. Captain Steven Caulker of Leone stars, national football team of Sierra Leone has announced that he is recovering from a knee surgery after undergoing the operation on last thursday. The British born Caulker who opted to play for his African roots and swiftly rose through the ranks, says he is hoping for a swift recovery of about four to six weeks, to join his colleagues in the June 18th Match against Nigeria. He posted on his Facebook page, "I had a successful knee operation on Thursday, and will be recovering for 4-6 weeks. I am praying for a fast recovery so I will be ready in time to play against Nigeria🙏❤️" Steven Caulker has been a key member of Coach John Keister's team since he had his Call-up for the National Team and all- throughout the last Afcon tournament in Cameroon. Now that the chances of actually playing in the Nigeria Afcon qualifier clash hangs in the balance, speculations abound as to whether he will be replaced.

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has approved the Paynesville-Samuel Kayon Doe sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia, as the host venue for Sierra Leone’s upcoming TotalEnergies AFCON 2023 qualifying match against Nigeria, the Sierra Leone Football Association announced in a news brief. The news brief went on to say that the said match-day 5, remains a crucial tie for both nations, and it has been scheduled to play on Saturday June 18th 2023 in neighbouring Liberia. Sierra Leone lost the first leg by 2-1 in Abuja and sits in 3rd position in Group A with five (5) points, having recorded two draws and a win with 4 matches played.
